This farm was the first to plant vineyards in the Hemel-en-Aarde and is owned by the Lötter family, with whom our family has been friends for 30 years. Its North-Westerly aspect and lower altitude combine to produce warmer conditions than blocks further up the valley and in the Ridge but this is balanced by the site’s relative proximity to the ocean. Soils here are markedly rockier, with heavy clay and a higher proportion of decomposed shale. This vineyard is the lowest lying of our Pinot vineyards and is often picked first. Our Bona Fide Pinot Noir is sourced here.
